Drawing is a language. Once the ability to draw is as natural as speaking or smiling, you will be able to focus on what you want your drawings to be about. Acting and entertainment should dictate how you draw. This will be a wonderful journey. Let's do it!

Lines and Curves

The idea in drawing is to create a three dimensional feeling with a two dimensional design. The way you play your straight lines against your curved lines will determine how successful you are. There is a word we use a lot in animation to rate a drawing’s strength. The word is read-ability. Can the viewer get your message right away, and does he/she find your drawing appealing?

Monkey See Monkey Do

I learned to draw by peeking over the shoulders of master animators, John Lounsbery, Frank Thomas, Milt Kahl, and many other gifted artists. There is no sense in rediscovering the wheel. Learn the secrets that other possess, and build upon that.

Draw as you Please

You are unique. Your drawing style is unique and your attraction to either beauty or ugliness will be determined by the feelings of your heart. If you love what you draw, there is a good chance others will too. I find there is nothing quite as appealing as honesty. Be yourself.

Getting the Feeling

Drawings that are not parented by the artist’s honest feelings are empty; they have no soul. This tutorial will explore the process of finding your feelings before picking up the pencil. Creativity rises up from those feelings.
