It has been far too long a time since last I was here. I hope all of you have been well!

I am going to start my gallery again. I hope you enjoy my doodles!

A Puppet Named Myles from a short story of mine. Once a plain old burlap puppet, he tries to win the favor of a Sparrow by turning himself into a handsome bird. However, he ends up a haphazard mess!

Don't I know you from somewhere? Oh yeah! You're that rabble-rouser everyone's warned me about!

I'm kidding, my friend! :D I'm so glad to see that you've started posting here again, and that you're sharing your beautiful artwork, too! Ever since Amanda and I met you back in 2008 or so, your art's inspired and captivated us. Keep on drawing! I never get tired of seeing your work. :)

Top Shelf!

Really enjoying your work and would love to see those characters animated. (easier said than done I know!)

Beyond the appeal of your characters, your sense of lighting is captivating also.

Wow you are way up there! Beautiful art and its so appealing too. I hope you join in on Don's workshops sometime. I really wish you had animated the Carebear movie. I tried watching it again recently. Yikes..... well it looked good when I was a kid.

Owen, you've captured what I wanted to say about the Carebears illustration (except to say I don't think I've ever sat through the full CareBears movie). I'm not one for the reimaginings of childhood characters (i.e. usually hate it when someone tries to make them more gritty and realistic) but I think kids deal better with mature stories than we give them credit. I'd watch a Carebear movie with heroic action in it such as is depicted here in a heartbeat. :)

Thank you very much for the kind comments everyone! I am very glad that you enjoy my work. : ) Like many of you here, Mr. Bluth was a huge inspiration for me growing up. When I started drawing in 03, I called upon that inspiration to get me started. I call upon it still. I have a ways yet to go and many ticks yet to learn, but time and perseverance is all it takes!

Here is a little tribute picture, an alternate version of my favorite Don Bluth animation:

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc393/Story_Teller/1274833462sciencefox_sea_before_time.jpg

I am a huge "The Land Before Time" fan. : )

You have no idea how honored I am for you to say that. I am die-hard Wizard of Oz fan, and this is a compliment I probably do not deserve! But I thank you just the same. : )

I think you sell yourself short. You totally deserve it.

My local library use to have original hardback copies of all the Oz books, and even though they were dusty and falling apart, I loved to read those books. But I loved the pictures in them even more. And you have really captured that same feeling in your drawings.

Your latest drawing is very nice. The Lion Crusader? Looks like a great start to an animated feature. I would watch it in a heartbeat! I don't know what you're doing, but keep doing it! :)

Wow. When I use a mechanical pencil my drawings never come out like that!

Very nice!

If it's not too late I'd like to suggest the helmet be just a little bit bigger?
As if it were just big enough (if only just barely) to allow him to squeeze it onto his head.

Just a note: I did a fairy tale search there and downloaded nearly 400 1800s and early 1900s illustrated fairy tale books - non Google - the ones from the library:)
A cool place to search.

Hahahaha! Its a funny thing; When I drew his head and the helmet originally, he did not have his mane. I thought to myself, "The helmet is WAY to big!" after I drew his mane and looked at it (and after it was pointed out) it looked way too small! I shall remedy this!

Very kind of you to say Owen. Thank you. : )

Oh? I did not! That sounds RIGHT up my alley. I have illusions about my animation skills; I am not destined to animate. However, I character creation for story purposes is EXACTLY what I love. When is the first workshop expected, may I ask?

Don and Dave are still deciding on the details of the class and when it will begin. However there is a thread that has been started by Dave and they are trying to find out what everyone's interest level is. Check it out and give them a shout if you're interested.

Stellar work Storyteller!..... It seems that I keep on missing on a lot of great art on this forum lately! really great characters there!.. I keep picking my brain but I can't compare any artist or artwork to yours, because it looks so original to me!...so I have to ask, is your work influenced by any art or artist in particular? :)

You are too kind! I sincerely appreciate your comments. : )

Oh I have very exact influences! Mr. Bluth, Osamu Tezuka, and Jim Henson are my top three; they forged who I am as an artist more than any. Couple that with my two favorite Writers H.G Wells and R. E. Howard, and you get my art!

Thank you again for your kindness!
