Hi! Tanya here. I've been on the site for a few months, and it has been a true treasure trove of information! I figured it's about time that I really start getting involved here, and no better way to start than by sharing some drawings, right? I'm not bothered too much about the fact that I'm just getting started; no place to go except forward now! =]

Only problem is, I'm not too sure how to attach images to this post; could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!

Sure thing!

Just go to www.photobucket.com and create an account (it's free). Upload your pictures there, then, when inside your gallery, mouse over the picture you wish to post. A menu will appear - simply click the bottom one (it'll be the one with the [ IMG ] brackets before and after it. This will copy the link for that image automatically.

Return here and paste it after your message. Voila! :)

Thanks!

I was at Disneyland a few weeks ago (first time in a long time) and started drawing what I saw while waiting in lines. Nothing really complete, but it was fun =]

Waiting for Alice in Wonderland:

Rapunzel's tower (I met Rapunzel, too!):

Also, I'm attending a figure drawing class; this is some of my work from there, trying different techniques.

About a month ago, different charcoal techniques:

another figure, 3 weeks ago:

Two weeks ago. Just a clothed mannequin, and we were asked to focus on drawing the clothes, to understand how it drapes around the human form:

And a few more figures, using ink wash for the first time last week:

I really like your life drawings, especially the ones done in ink. I can get a definite sense of weight with some of them, and they're very expressive.

Keep up the great work! :)

Wow, thank you so much, everyone! I never expected such a positive response; it's really encouraging! I've been a little shy to become more involved up till now. I'm planning to start with Don's Club next week; I'm really excited about that!!

Please feel free to tell me how I could improve; I know I still have a long way to go! =]

Some new figures from yesterday's figure drawing class, drawn using conte crayon on gray paper. Thanks so much for the overwhelmingly positive response so far, everyone! =]

Thanks Andrew =]

I just finished a basic drawing class, and these two pastel pieces were my final project. Both were referenced from photos, and the basic outline was traced (a sad requirement of that project) But I still liked how they came out =]

I have tried pastels and this stuff aint easy. The detail you have put into the whale's tail with all the water droplets is amazing. Your second piece with the dolphins is fantastic. I love the focal point of the sun. You pick up these new mediums so easily!

Thanks Owen! It looks a lot better in the photograph than it does in real life, though =]

This was my final project for a figure drawing class I'm taking. Used conte crayon. I'm not too satisfied with it, but it definitely wasn't the WORST thing I've ever drawn =]

Been forever since I posted anything here, and I figured I should get back to it.

These are both great drawings. I really like how in number 2 the focal point is the face and you use the long pole to frame it. Very nice.

Nice work Tanya...:)

your 2 life drawings are so good...and already all pointed out why they look good.

Your whale pastel`s work are so amazing. Just little curious why it needed only `Trace` the real whale. Why not doing some new whale based on real pictures and put in all together.

Arif

Wow, these responses are overwhelming. Thank you Lavalle, Owen, Andrew, Martha, Gabriel, and Arif! Your support is very encouraging. Gabriel, I’ll try to add more depth to my figure drawings; thanks for the suggestion. Arif, my teacher required me to trace the whale for that class assignment. But you’re right, I should try it again on my own without tracing it =]

Some elephant attempts inspired by the lesson from Mr. Bluth. I had a lot of fun with these =]

Elephant number 4 and the bottom number 2 with his trunk out are my favorites. You've captured good emotions on both and I especially like the design on number 4 with the tiny head and big body.

I like the facial expressions in both your elephants and life poses!
