Just wondering if any of you folks webcast your animating, or arting, or drawing live? Or anything else for that matter - on sites like justin.tv (http://www.justin.tv/), ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/), or mogulus (http://www.mogulus.com/)
Mine's at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/snapimation - but I'm only on once or twice a week, on a schedule of "when I feel like it". :p (just keep an eye on my twitter if you care, it'd be out of place to continuously spam it here)
I'd love to see some of y'all working live, too if you have shows. And once you get that pencil test camera set up, you might even be able to do it from paper, too! :D
(might be interesting to see the seminar done that way too, but that might be a little more direct exposure than Don's interested in )
I've always been interested in doing that but how much bandwidth does it chew through? My family won't be too happy if I use it all up

you know I do, Snapai!
same schedule as him, whenever I feel like it, or at the end of the week.
I'm a bit more goofy and dumb than Snapai is, though.

I stream at about 348kbps. Keep in mind that most of the bandwidth used is upload-bandwidth, so for most internet connections, you're not going to be affecting the download at all (other than slowing down how long it takes the request for data to be sent. If you're maxing out your upload, links clicked on sites will take a little longer to reply, but then load at full speed.)
Some of the sites do a stream test, and actually set your bandwidth appropriately. :D

I'm not sure I can take the pressure yet doing a live drawing session.
Though, for those that want to share their drawing techniques, but want to record it by themselves and share, install Jing:
http://www.jingproject.com/
It's a free program that lets you record your screen as SWF files, lossless, but at a low framerate to manage size. You can save it to your computer to do with as you will, or part of the signup you are given a screencast.com account that the software can auto upload to, once complete, it puts the URL in your clipboard to past into a browser.
But you can create buttons to set it to upload elsewhere, like your own FTP account. It's also possible to upload directly to vimeo, or youtube, but that might require the pro Jing ($15 a year), but I think you can still manually upload the SWF to youtube.
Oh, there's a 5 minute time limit. So you need to work fast. Or record parts and combine. As you can open a video, then set a new screen record over that video, hit record, then drag the video player bar to fast forward through it and condense a 5 minute drawing into 20 seconds. You can pause the recording to load up the other parts. (when you hit record, you can then move the stop, pause, etc controls out of the way)
Here's a video of one of my Owl tests, 5 Minutes (Around 13 megs):
other.toonguru.com/screencast/index.php?name=Owl_3_3.swf&width=802&height=578&autostart=false&
Now here it is again, double recorded, played back at 25 seconds, I may have gone too fast for the framerate in some areas (3 megs):
other.toonguru.com/screencast/index.php?name=Owl_3_3_Fast.swf&width=797&height=533&autostart=false&
Sorry if my site seems slow, I hope it is not. Screencast account is fast, but you have a limited 2gigs of bandwidth a month. But if you use it just for here only, I'm sure you'd be under the limit.
