Hearing sad news that Dom DeLuise has passed away. What a great comedic actor and of course iconic voice. :(

This is just sad...A couple of the most well-known sidekicks in animation (Itchy and Tiger) gone like that. He had a great talent for voice acting and he will surely be missed.

Oh, this is very sad to hear. The last time I caught something he did when he did a guest appearance on that Robot Chicken episode where he paired up with Burt Reynolds for that racing spoof. Brought back memories of All Dogs go to Heaven. I'll miss him.

R.I.P, Dom.

I will always remember him vividly as Jeremy the goofy, lovesick crow in "The Secret of NIMH" .

Dom Deluise you will be missed immensely. Even though your brilliant performances in many comedic movies are going to be your legacy, to many of us you'll be always remembered as the voiceover for many endearing characters in Don Bluth's movies. Rest in peace.

The world will surely be a little lonelier place without Dom. I cherish the time I have spent on the recording stage with him. He was always very creative in finding the character’s voice, but never bullish about his ideas, nor arrogant. My first encounter with Dom was in the recording of Jeremy, the crow. There were so many little asides that he added to the dialogue that were never on the scripted page. For example, Jeremy was forever saying, “Excuse me; pardon me.” I remember one time Dom looked up and said, “At my house there’s this funny little thing we all say to each other when we bump…I mean crash into each other, you know like spastic penguins. Anyway, we always say, “excuse me, pardon me.” That might be funny. Jeremy’s a klutz, right? Let me try it.”

Dom was really inventive during his sessions with Burt Reynolds on All Dogs go to Heaven. I remember him whispering in my ear some very good advice, “Okay Don, here’s the plan. I’ve worked with Burt for years. Roll the tape and don’t cut in and try to direct us. Trust me; you’ll love what you get.” Two microphones, two stools, two actors, Burt began by croaking out that “special” dog voice he had invented for the role of Charlie, the dog. Dom stared for a moment before he dropped his script on the floor to say, “what the F@#$ was that? Why are you talking like that?”
“That’s my Charlie voice,” snapped Burt. “I think it’s good.”
“Your mother’s ass; it’s ridiculous! I’m the funny guy here; you’re the straight man. Come on, let’s do this right!

I sat in the control booth watching with utter amazement as Dom and Burt began first by reading the lines as written, and then suddenly they veered off into their own improvisation to find the comedy. At that moment, I could see the two of them as brothers having a family squabble and it looked real. They even started to look alike.

I’ll miss you Dom, but you leave a great legacy.

I heard it on the radio at work yesterday. Took me completely by surprise. :(
Kind of like when Jerry Goldsmith died.
