How did this YouTuber make this animation?!?!!?

I came across this video on youtube

and was wondering how he made this? (Not a big fan of the all the blood tho)

It intriguing to me to animate over a video like this. I have some ideas that would be cool if I could animate like this!

Do you have ANY idea how he made this?

I sent him a message on YouTube and he said he uses flash in a lot of his videos, not sure

Personally I think he meant just flash. Maybe a bit of photoshop for the intro with the bee, but it is completely possible to upload a video into the adobe flash creating software and then animate on a layer over it. I did it once when I was in high school, but I don't have flash anymore and don't remember how the process works. Hope that helped a little, though!

Looks like a combination of After Effects and Photoshop. But if he said he uses flash, he may have used that with After Effects to composite the animation into the video.

Yes. I think one can import the movie into flash as an flv and he can animate over it.
I would animate initially in Flash with the l.a. imported if that were me, but then I would composite the live action and an swf of the animation in AE just for a better quality. But that only answers part of the question; the kid has great timing.

The standards documentation for BBC Online states that the BBC now preferentially accepts Flash videos for submission, to the disadvantage of other formats previously in use on its sites such as RealVideo or WMV.

You asked 'how' he did it and everyone is concentrating on the software that he used. The how is 'rotoscoping' and many programs can be used to create similar films. Here's a breakdown of how I think he did it:

1 - Filmed himself pretending to react to the stick figures that would later be drawn in
2 - Imported the video into his program (probably Flash but many are out there. Photoshop could be used as well.)
3 - Animated the stick figures and FX over the still frames of his video using his acting to inform his decisions on where to place the stickmen (probably on a different layer so as not to alter the video)
4 - Watched the video and made necessary adjustments and corrections

I'd be interested in knowing his thought process as he acted out the scene. For instance, was his movement carefully choreographed or did he just 'go with the flow' and wing it?

That's my take on how he did it. :)
