You may all have noticed the little green dot. This is a reputation meter and it allows you to give someone a "thumbs up" for a quality post.

I'd like to know what you all think of it, as it can be removed if most dont like it! So VOTE!

You should see a little set of scales in the top right hand corner of the post...

The rules are... if you like the post, think its quality, informative, funny or whatever, you can add rep points...

You should be able to use it as a member of the Registered users group, as well as set your avatar. fanimation has one!

But If i dislike someone's post? Who can "remove" rep points?

And I think users must be able to delete their post if nobody answered below.

If you dislike the post... well, if you havent got anything nice to say... just dont say anything! Deleting a post because nobody answered it would mean we'd have to establish a timeline. What if you posted something that nobody knew the answer to, until 6 months later. Then you'd eventually get an answer, and that thread may become valuable to another member in the future. For now, deleting your own posts will remain disabled.

Were you able to add rep? I added to yours, so as you can see, you have two green dots. See now it works? VOTE!

Ok, the poll has closed. The people have responded with a resounding "meh". Its seems like its working out alright so far and its probably a feature we'll keep unless we get complaints about it. Until that time, reputation is enabled by default for all users.

1. The author of his topics mustn't be allowed to rate them.
2. Every topic has a raiting function... i think only the "Gallery" topics must have it. (?)

thanks :)

1. There is only the option to allow a usergroup to be able to rate or not. There isnt the option to disallow a user to rate their own threads. If people choose to use the thread rating utility, they should balance themselves out.
2. We'll have a think about this one. When a thread really picks up and offers solid advice that everyone will find useful, I think its ok to allow it to be rated.

Thanks for your feedback, CanAur!

I have 3 grey points and 2 green in my CP. What do they mean?

Can you post a screenshot? I suspect the two green ones are your current rep level, and in the CP, the grey ones are showing times when you have either given or received reputation.

Those are people who have repped you for your post.

What's the difference between the grey and green?

I believe that the green ones are given by someone with a higher reputation than you, but to be honest I'm not sure thats entirely accurate. The higher your reputation the more rep power you have. So for example if Don were to rep one of your posts, you would see that appear as a green dot, but you would also receive a lot more rep points as his reputation is so high.
