Hello All
This week will see the first of an initiative from the European "Cartoon" organisation, CARTOON CONNECTION (http://www.cartoon-media.be/CONNECT/index.php).
It takes place in Buenos Aires 25-27 November.

How it works
The 3-day meeting will alternate formal speaker?s presentations, panel sessions during round tables and project presentations.

The programme content will offer attending animation professionals practical tools to work together with particular focus on financing, distribution and co-productions.

The ultimate aim of CARTOON CONNECTION is to increase knowledge of the different markets, promotion, networking and distribution of animation works for both European and international professionals and to facilitate cooperation between Europe and the different continents in the field of animation.

--------------------------------------------

HoBSoft (http://www.hobsoft.net) will be present in the form of my collegue Brian Ottosen (brian@hobsoft.net, Mobile: +41793319569).

Who else will be attending???

Dear johncbeggs

I hope you checked it out. CARTOON CONNECTION (to which I am not connected but as a mere user) is, in my humble opinion, a great opportunity for the animation communities to approach each other, and an opportunity to learn how things are done in other parts of the world.

The program may be studied here:

http://www.cartoon-media.be/CONNECT/programme.php

If things are as normally at CARTOON events, everything will be simultaneously translated to English/French/Spanish...

As mentioned it is the first time this event is taking place and it may very well be of interest to the members of the "Don Bluth Animation" community that such an event takes place. Some of them may even be going there this time. They may even feel like participating next time (where ever that will be).

Having looked at the other entries in "Off Topic" I agree that it belongs here. I do apologize for having posted wrongly.

Hi johncbeggs

Well that was, at least for a moment, the likely outcome, only one post that is. But never mind, I understand the problem of "spam" in the forums.

I just wanted to let you know that the event has now finished, and apparently it was a success.

If I know the good people at CARTOON right, there will soon be a gallery with images from the event at the web site. I would guess it would be posted next to http://www.cartoon-media.be/CONNECT/argentina.php

Anyway keep an eye out for this event next year.

Also consider checking the 12th Cartoon Movie ? Lyon (France),
from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th March 2010
I know that there is at least a couple of Americans that has been there there every year I can remember (which isn't that many by the way :))
Cartoon Movie is an international event about the projects going on (pitching/presenting/selling/find production partners/financing), mainly in Europe, but often with collaboration around the world.

For 2009 there were:
more than 620 participants, including 180 investors ? of which 79 distributors ? and 38 professionals from the game industry. 51 feature film projects were pitched, be they in concept, in development, in production or completed films.

An interesting statistics is that if a film is pitched 2 times (I think it is) at Cartoon Movie, there is more than 95% chance that it will be produced. That is the statistics for the last 20 years or so!

Check MOVIE out here http://www.cartoon-media.be/MOVIE/index.php

...and by the way, the European professionals are normally a very nice bunch of people :-)
