WOW!, your drawings are getting better and better every time I visit, you really nailed Yosemite Sam's look in that last drawing. I agree with what was being said about your life drawings, they are getting really good!

Wow Lav, great drawing of Yosemite Sam.

That brown pencil likes you! Very nice Lavalle.

Are you moving toward animating them?
I can see some extreme poses in a sequence based on your last Wile E Coyote image.

In three beats maybe:

- Up with his hands on the plunger (Smiling)
- Plunging the handle down with gleeful intent
[realization that the dynamite is too close at hand (perhaps he's sitting on it or it rolls in front of him)]
[His eyes and head might follow the path of the coiled wire around?]
- Aftermath (char-grilled Coyote)

Fun drawings Lav!

A little update! So my music guy's computer broke who is working on the music for Vinnie 'the chik' Costello. But he has guaranteed me he will finish the music real soon..

So in the mean time, i thought i would start writing for another cartoon. His name is 'Bobo The Tree Plant'

http://4mchan.org/Forum/gallery/2_20_06_10_6_43_02.jpeg

What im working on;

-Story (half way done)
-Design (finished)
-Music
-Full Cartoon Name
-Voice Actors

My Original Idea; Bobo was to report current events, but in a funny way.

At one point Bobo was even going to be the flashcartoons.org mascot!

http://4mchan.org/Forum/gallery/2_04_06_10_1_01_37.jpeg

I created him May 4th 2004, is what the file created date says on this ugly mouse drawing (above). WOW!

The design i'm going with is the middle one below.

I prefer the first one over the second, because the second feels sort of balloon faced, if you will.. Are you going to do the whole thing in flash? If you do.. promise not to use the cheating flash things like easy position, rotate, and scale animation ;)

lavallelee
07-20-2010, 06:30 PM
I agree Nate, I'm using the first one, much better. :) As for is it going to be flash or traditional..

I originally wanted to make it 100% pencil, but it will be years until I finish if I do it that way, so some of it will be animated flash.

Doing some study, this time paused "The Rescuers" a few frames and drew what i saw. I'm a bit rusty!

Looking great Lavalle! I must confess to you that when you showed me your sketches of Luigi back at the Arizona's Masterclass I was thinking.... is this guy making fun of my heritage or is he doing this for real?:laughing:
I'm looking forward to watch some your pencil tests from this project....

I am going to first try just pencil paper animating, (already tried a few tests) I once thought i was ready, now not so sure. I need to study more human anatomy.

..I believe that you're already on the right direction, if you keep your characters pretty simple in their layout structure (break it down in circles, spheres and ovals), kinda like this:

http://i786.photobucket.com/albums/yy149/felcebucket72/Drawings%20sketches%20and%20whatnots/Luigi003low.jpg

perhaps you might get good results without getting too much into the nitty gritty of anatomy (though whenever you got some free time to invest definitely always go to check out an anatomy for artists manual)
Good luck!
Felice (Mr.Workshop)

Good work with this one. You distilled the drawing of mouse into a few lines, expressed an emotion and the drawing still feels solid. Hats off to you on that!

lavalle this is actually one of the drawings I like the most that you have made!

I honestly get the feeling that this is a mouse almost like its alive and looking! I cant pinpoint at what emotion but I know its displaying one :)

- almost like deep thinking or something!

anyway great job man!

It's going to take me quite a while to go through all sixty pages of your gallery thread though, but from what I did see, I'm really impressed! :D You've got a very clear sense of style, and, like some others have said, the confidence you have in your work really shows. Alright, now I HAVE gone through all sixty pages of your thread! It's really amazing to see how far you've come since you first started posting, Lavelle. You've always been improving, but I noticed the biggest changes right around page 20 or so. Seeing how far you've come in such a short time really inspires me to push myself to imrpove, y'know? :) Anyway, keep riding the momentum you've built up!

Here is my random character: Manipi

Basically a gross smelly monster with tons of eyes, with a defense system against men, SEXY LEGS! Manipi manipulates men to do his bidding with the hypnotizing effect of 'The Legs'. This hypnotizing effect does not work on women, but his awful oder and scary monster face can do the trick while he has his dress down.

Well, okay. Lavalle asked for a Coke but we ran out, so I poured a bit of whatever was in that jug with the "XXX" label on it to top it off. YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE... unless you lure me out with brownies!

Now then, regarding your picture Lavalle, it's umm... it's... *stares at the legs* ...really... nice and... Huh?! What sorcery is this?! To give that monster such a deadly and... efficient... weapon of... *shakes head* Diabolically sinister with a side of malevolent evilishness... I like it. :D

Yeah puppies can take a lot of time. They have lots and lots of energy that had to be spent or you find your stuff chewed up. Either or, someone who could pass as a recognizable Luigi voice.

Love the little bird pecking Lavalle. That has some great potential.
I love the step... step... step... peckpeckpeckpeck... element of textured movement in it already. If you strengthen that you'll have a winner.

I made a copy of your grumpy and rolled his eyes around... just by flipping the eyes up/down/right/left (must have had some free time that day). It was a fun exercise (I thought) it worked pretty well.

I'm curious. Do they ever draw animated drawings at the Animation Academy or is it exclusively still drawings?

Hey, that's not "bad" life drawing. I think they thoroughly work as pose sketches. They're condensed but readable. Shows you're developing an eye for the essence of a pose.

Don't wait to show those guys your stuff! If you know them and they know you there's nothing to "fear". Besides, trust me, you'll never be absolutely satisfied with your drawings. I hate looking at my old stuff and I don't know any other artists who don't have reservations about their previous efforts.
Think of it this way - you're already showing your drawings to all of the internet. Just pretend the guys over at the studio are forum members. ;)

Draw from the inside -> out. Start with your line of action and construct the form on top of that. From there you can begin to focus on the details.

You have a great style, and the people are reading very well. Just remember the basics when you put your pencil down =)

wow...you are improving!!...the last few works definitely have some indication......just try to stay little loose and find the volume the characters....you are on right track...:D
and your memory work is good,.,....the more you try to draw from mind ..the more you will be stronger....

I'd say you're well on your way! I really like the dynamic pose of the flamingo, as well as his expression! Who's the passenger though?
